Most of these photos are not mine. I collect photos here that I like, but it's all completely pointless unless it inspires you to get out and create moments like these for yourself. My original content can be found here

Go Forth

So it’s been quite a while since I released a playlist, and it’s about time you treated your ears to another adventure-prone mix of music. Now that the frost is melting away (long gone, in my neck of the woods) we’re starting to get the itch to get back outdoors and explore. So here it is, the Go Forth playlist.

Specially-designed for driving mountain passes with the windows rolled down this blend of ear-candy is guaranteed to make your heart pound with adrenaline and your mind rush with exploratory possibilities. Whether you prefer to traverse the high seas, or rather saunter quietly through the woods, this playlist will inspire you to take on your next adventure with a renewed fervor to match the freshness of spring.

Please enjoy.

Many of you have asked if I would be releasing a fall/winter playlist this year, so to appease the masses, here it is. This year’s fall playlist is perfect for crisp days inside reading a book curled up with a warm blanket, a fire, and a cup of coffee.. So grab a good book, snuggle up with that special someone next to the fire, and enjoy a lazy afternoon with these quiet songs. I’ll be doing the same.

Folly Mixtape

Tonight I drive down to Folly Beach, SC for a long weekend of surfing, so it’s about time I release the mixtape I’ve been listening to so far this summer. As with all of my playlists, I’ve personally tested these songs and found them to be suitable for driving along the coast, sitting on the shore, watching the tide go out, afternoon longboarding sessions, and enjoying post-surfing fish tacos.
So, if you find yourself heading down to the coast this summer, praying for sun and high winds, bring along this mixtape, and take a few pictures while you’re there. I’d like to see some proof that you kids are actually being adventurous. Photo reply to this post with surf and beach pictures. I’ll be giving away some prizes to the best photos. And if you see me around Folly Beach and Charleston this weekend, holler at me.

So, just as the season of adventuring is about to be upon us, I give you the Campfire playlist. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have the last few months.

Good Winter Mixtape

If you’ve know me for any amount of time, you may notice that I neglected to release the fourth in the Pumpkin Spice Latte Mixtape series, the fall playlist I’ve released every year for the past three years. It wasn’t for lack of trying, but other things piled up, life happened, and here we are halfway to winter with no mixtape, and honestly not much inspiration.
Worry not, dear readers. I have for you instead, the first installment of the winter themed playlists; titled Good Winter. It’s a snow (or, as I realized later, blood) themed playlist perfectly designed for cold snowy (or rainy) days inside next to the fire with a blanket, a french press, and an old book. For when you come back in from playing in the snow to a smooth cup of hot chocolate, the feeling of blood rushing back into your fingertips, and the smell of evergreen.

We Are the Battery Human — Stornoway
Old Pine — Ben Howard
Blood — Middle East
Put There By The Land — Great Lake Swimmers
Angel in the Snow — Elliot Smith
Fuel for Fire — M. Ward
Winter Fawn — Matt Pond PA
Some Day Soon — Alexi Murdoch

Blood on the Snow — Horse Feathers
Without a Doubt — Isbells
Casimir Pulaski Day — Sufjan Stevens
Faded from the Winter — Iron & Wine
Noah’s Nameless Wife — Bryan John Appleby
Blood Bank — Bon Iver
Garden — Noah Gundersen
To Build a Home — The Cinematic Orchestra

I hope you enjoy what I’ve constructed here. I hope this finds you warm and well. Listen to this on those cold days inside or on the road, and there’ll be a good chance that I’m somewhere listening right along with you.

Kindle The Fire Mixtape

So here it is, the long awaited, highly coveted, much anticipated Oh, Pioneer! playlist. It’s called Kindle the Fire in Your Chest (Kindle the Fire for short) and it’s an hour and 37 minutes packed full of amazing jams by tons of great artists, as well as the classic reading of “Pioneers! O, Pioneers!” by Will Geer.
This playlist is has been personally tested by yours truly and is proven to be a great soundtrack for roadtrips into the wilderness, chopping down trees in your back yard, reading books by Hemingway and Thoreau, and standard-issue shenanigans and cockamamie.

If you enjoy it, or have any comments or suggestions, come at me, bro.
